Amazon, kindle and big brother

@wilw posted this link on twitter. Okay, I love ebooks...but I have no intention of owning a kindle. Read why here:

If they had removed the books, and NOT paid the people back for the purchase, then I'd be upset. As it is, at least they got credited for the book. I'd be more upset that Orwell was being a jerk and taking is books away. Selfish bastard! LOL =D

Talk about Irony Overload! :D Now they have to found out how to get all Kindles with copies of 'Farenheit 451' on them to spontaneously self-combust...

Seriously, though, it's the publishers people should be ripping a chunk out of - Amazon are just the delivery channel. It would be been better if they'd told the publishers where to go when they demanded this sort of 'kill switch' (plus the ability to put other restrictions on ebooks, like disallowing text-to-speech) go into the Kindle... but I'm guessing they figure that public pressure will make the publishers see the error of their ways... here's hoping!

(Bit of a moot point over here, as we don't even have the Kindle yet here the the UK, let alone v2 or the DX)
