a day in the life....my most recent LJ posting

...it's been a strange one. My university library is closing libraries (excuse me...reducing service points) and the librarians in my division are trying to produce a document to satisfy the University Librarian and the AUL so we can get ON with it...well, so I can get on with the work...I have moved collections 3 times in the last 20 years...most recently last summer...and we are gonna do it again. In any case, I had to be at work an hour early because I am the staff rep and I have to keep reminding the capital L's that us small l's need to have input as well.

Got a phone call from a person I haven't seen in over 20 years. He was a med student when I worked at the med school library. We had a "thing" for awhile (before I was living poly) but totally lost touch. He just got on facebook, which is how we connected. [I don't have time at the moment to talk about my feelings about facebook and whether it is good or evil.

Stayed late at work (even though I got here early), went home, watched "All My Children" while eating cottage cheese topped with walnuts and chopped dates (not a bad combination, but it lacked something) and most of a package of cookies (bad idea). Took a nap (just long enough to make my environment very surreal), got up and went back to work (I was late because Steak and Shake was packed with people who were headed to a show at the Assembly Hall.)

Did a little work in between screwing around on the net with a break to call Slash early in the evening (I don't...usually. And he tends to call me when it's inconvenient. And our friendship was strained for awhile. Talking to Dr. Q made me want to talk to Slash because he's good for a girl's ego.

TC and Marcey are at a Pure Romance convention in Vegas this week. Tomorrow TC is going to meet up with an old girlfriend from high school. He says she's marriage material.

It's wet and warm tonight but it is going to be wet and cold tomorrow.

A friend was talking about the quality of being invisible and how valuable it is...I agree. At the same time I really love being part of a web of people.
