music therapy???
Elizabeth Bear just referenced a song by Andrew Bird and I was so entranced I promptly purchased the album from itunes. I am so out of date with regard to music that I am truly delighted to be introduced to anything new...and I am going to try to keep track of where things come from so the tangle in my brain isn't so tangled.
Some of the books I'm reading deal with neuroplasticity and healing brains...and music helps to make the brain more plastic [insert link to brain books here]. Adding music to my web is good (I didn't have much before, due to various lacks...but I have access to everything on the interweb on my hard drive and it is enhanced by functional speakers so I can actually listen to the music. (My previous stereo and speakers sucked. Headphones have increased the connection between my brain and the music and now I have an 8 gig ipod nano so I can carry the music with me.
Best of all, I have gone back to doing Womyn Making Waves at least once a month so I am playing with the WEFT cd collection again.
and, to go down a different path that leads back to the beginning, I started reading Bear's Live Journal again (and Sarah Monette's) because of A Companion to Wolves, which is a damn fine novel and I totally recommend it. Cheron, who lived with wolves (literally) for years, says they got it right.
